Great to know if my regular hairdresser is away,
another staff member can ‘replicate the quality of colour, cut and

Hair Cuts, when to cut, or not1. Why do some hairdressers’ want to trim my hair when I’m trying to grow it? As
your hair gets longer it tends to look very wispy and thin at the
ends, so trimming it will make it appear thicker and look
healthier, and isn’t that a good
thing? 2. I have been trying to grow my hair for ages but it seems to have come to a standstill, why is that? The average growth cycle of each hair is five to six years. Four to five years of growth and then approximately one year of resting period, after that, normal shedding of each hair occurs. Please be aware that not all the hairs on your head are growing at the same cycle time. Some may be resting whilst others may be in their falling or growing cycle, and that’s why you’ll still notice a re-growth if you have your hair coloured. In your case a lot of your hair may be in its natural resting period, so don’t worry, because sometimes too much stress can actually contribute to slow growth, and or, hair loss. Also if you are not having your split ends removed, it can snap off at the split and then look like the hair is not growing at all. 3. My hair is very thin and I’m fed up with my flat hairstyle. Will regular cutting make it grow thicker? Firstly you don’t have to suffer from flat hair anymore, but to answer your question, sorry, but cutting your hair won’t make it grow any thicker. BUT WAIT, it’s not all bad news, THERE’S MORE! The hair grows from a follicle, (the hair root) and the amount of follicles you have on your scalp, determine how thick or thin your hair will be, and nothing you can do (apart from hair replacement surgery) will give you more follicles than you were born with. Many people suffer from thin hair but that doesn’t mean your hair can’t look great. At Scamps we would suggest a shorter style that will give the appearance of more volume and texture and by using one of the many excellent volumising products on the market, you will be amazed at how fabulous your new style will look. With the right advice, the right tools and appropriate products, you can say goodbye to your old flat look. An interesting alternative for you could be our innovative ‘root perm’ service which could be just what you need to fix your flat hair permanently. For more information about this service see our FAQ section on Curl. 4. Why do some hairdressers always cut my hair shorter than I tell them to do? At Scamps Hair Studio, to guarantee you get what you want, we always fully consult with clients before any service is done to make sure we’re all on the same page. If retaining your hair length is important to you, then it must be more about ‘how much hair we leave on, rather than how much we cut off’ If your hairdresser doesn’t listen to your needs, then change to one who does. At
Scamps ‘we listen’ We
always strive to give you the right style for your
lifestyle. |
